Elementary DI team is ready to take on the world

A Utica Community Schools Destination Imagination team is going global after earning top awards at a state competition that promotes innovation and creativity.

The Messmore team Built to Last Engineering was awarded top honors from Michigan DI judges: 

First Place in Engineering Challenge  Elementary Level

                 First Place
in the Instant Challenge.

Renaissance Award for their Best Performance in DI. 

The Engineering Challenge asks students to explore and apply engineering skills and tools to design and build solutions to specific applications.

Teams are required to:

·        Research visual art styles and architecture styles.

·        Design and create a single three-dimensional physical model of a building.

·        Create a video presentation that tells a story about how opposites can be complementary.

·        Integrate your model of a building and a planning artifact into the video presentation.

·        Present part of the video presentation using a split screen to enhance the story.

·        Create and present two Team Choice Elements that show off your team’s interests, skills, areas of strength and talents.

Destination Imagination, Inc. dedicates itself to enriching the global community by providing opportunities for learners of all ages to explore and discover using the creative process from imagination to innovation.

Messmore team members are: Yaksh Shah - 2nd Grade; Myra Shah - Kindergarten; Yash Patel - Kindergarten; Aarohi Patel - 2nd Grade; Dhyani Patel - 3rd Grade; Aksh Patel - 2nd Grade and Dhatri Joshi - 3rd Grade.

The team captain is Chintan Shah and assistant manager is Bhupendra Patel.
